Itanagar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in a grand way by conducting social service
as well as Awareness Programme to mark the culmination of a fortnight long
series of activities under the theme ‘Swachhata Hi Seva: Swabhav Swachhata;
Sanskar Swachhata’ from 17 September to 2nd October 2024
to commemorate the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in various locations
of college campus. The programme was participated enthusiastically by the
faculty members, the non-teaching staff, the NSS volunteers, the NCC cadets
etc.
The social service is part of Swachhata Hi Seva campaign kicked off from 17th September to 2nd October 2024, culminating on Swachh Bharat Diwas which seeks to reignite the spirit of collective action and citizens’ participation in cleanliness efforts across India.
The cleanliness Drive
Activity was followed by Awareness Talk on ‘Swachhata Hi Seva: Swabhav
Swachhata ; Sanskar Swachhata’ wherein Dr. M.Q. Khan, Principal DNGC
elaborated on importance of cleanliness, and the need to make cleanliness
indispensable part of our Nature and culture. He emphatically insisted that
though environmental cleanliness is important yet the intrinsic cleanliness of
our thought and Mindset is still more important which inculcate within us the
culture of neither making our surrounding dirty nor indulging in dirty
activities.
He further stressed the
students to keep the college campus clean and hygienic “only cleaning is not
enough, one has to maintain the sanctity of the college and its campus and not
to throw trash like plastic bottles, plastic glasses, junk food packets etc
anywhere. Be responsible and imbibe the feeling of belongingness and
ownership”, he further added.
He lauded the
participating faculty members the non-teaching staff, the NSS volunteers, the
NCC cadets etc. for huge turn up and wholehearted participation in the
Swachhata Programme which collectively ensures to maintain cleanliness to pay
true tribute to the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi and make Swachhata a way of life
and part of our culture and tradition.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kipa Roni, an Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Dera Natung Govt. College Itanagar.
NSS Unit,
DNGC with Program officer, Phuntso Gombu and 50 volunteers participated in
"Swachh Bharat Diwas" celebration organized by Directorate of
Urban Local Bodies, government of Arunachal Pradesh at Golden Jubilee Banquet
Hall, Itanagar. Prior to celebration NSS volunteers participated in mass social
service at Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar.
